Women Say Goodbye to 2022

Mia Walker OLIVET, Mich. – The College of Wooster women's basketball team played its final game of 2022 on Friday in a 60-35 loss to Olivet College.

The Scots will look to reverse its fortune heading into the new year as they conclude the first half of its season at 1-10. Olivet moved to 4-9 with the victory.

First-year Mia Walker led the way for Wooster on Friday, coming off the bench to record a team-high 12 points. She was the only Scot to reach double figures and one of two to connect on multiple field goals in the game.

Junior Alyssa Chritz had one of her best outings of the year with eight points and seven rebounds. Chritz and Walker combined for 20 points off the bench, while the starters combined to score just 10.

Overall, Wooster shot just 18 percent (10-of-57) from the floor, 13 percent (4-of-31) from deep and 52 percent (11-of-21) from the foul line.

After trailing 39-14 at halftime, Wooster had a spirited third, winning the quarter 19-10. Chritz scored all eight of her points in the quarter, while Walker scored five.

Unfortunately, Wooster could not carry that momentum into the fourth as Olivet only extended its lead.

Olivet was led by a 14-point performance from Lily Connelly, 10 points from Kinsley Hatfield and 11 rebounds from Courtney Balazs.

For Walker, it was her third double-digit scoring game of the year. She connected on all four of her free throw attempts and leads the team this season at 75 percent on a minimum of 10 attempts.

Wooster will start the new year with its first North Coast Athletic Conference game when they host Oberlin College on Wednesday.
