Guilliams Scores Career-High 22 Points Against First Place Tigers

Namara Rwakatare Shalen Guilliams is starting to find her groove after putting up another career-high against first-place Wittenberg University on Saturday.

The first year scored 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting, connected on four 3-pointers and collected a game-high four steals as the Scots fell to the North Coast Athletic Conference best Tigers 99-65.

Wittenberg (11-3, 3-0 NCAC) stayed undefeated in conference play and won its seventh straight on Saturday. Six different players scored in double digits, while Jade Simpson recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Wooster (1-14, 0-4 NCAC) reached the 60-point threshold for the second straight game after only having reached that mark before in the season opener.

First-year Mia Walker followed up a career-high performance last time out with 18 points. Classmate Ella Dean finished with eight points; Namara Rwakatare scored six points, and Alyssa Chritz finished with five points and a team-high six rebounds.

Wooster played without leading scorer Ella Biondi as Wittenberg took advantage of its size differential from the opening tip.

While Wooster was trying to figure out how to play without one of their key players, Wittenberg scored the first six points and jumped out to a 30-10 lead after the first quarter.

However, for the rest of the way Wooster was only outscored by 14 points.

Wooster shot 41 percent (27-of-66) from the floor, 27 percent (6-of-22) from range and 56 percent (5-of-9) from the foul line.

Wittenberg shot 51 percent (42-of-82) for the game, 36 percent (9-of-25) from deep and went a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line.

The Tigers outrebounded Wooster 53-27, which led to 23 second chance points. They were also successful running the court with 14 fast break points.

Wooster scored 12 points off Wittenberg's 12 turnovers and only committed 14.

Wooster travels to Hiram College on Wednesday.
