Scots Fall to First Place Tigers

Mia Walker GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The College of Wooster women's basketball team ran into the juggernaut that is the DePauw University Tigers on Saturday and took a 100-43 North Coast Athletic Conference loss.

DePauw (13-7, 8-1 NCAC) remains atop the conference standings with the win, while Wooster (1-18, 0-8) still looks for its first NCAC win.

Wooster shot 40 percent from 3-point range early and trailed 11-8 after the first media timeout. However, DePauw gained some distance to lead 21-10 after the first quarter.

From there, Wooster struggled. They ended a five-minute scoring drought as an Ella Dean 3-pointer made it 30-13. At halftime, DePauw led 53-25.

DePauw led for all but for 57 seconds in the first quarter. Their largest lead also came when the Tigers scored their 100th point with 30 seconds remaining in the game.

DePauw had 65 bench points including a game-high 16 from Ava HasselAinsley Boras scored 14 and two others reached 11.

For Wooster, Mia Walker scored a team-high 14 points, followed by 11 from Shalen GuilliamsElla Biondi recorded nine points and nine rebounds.

Wooster shot 30 percent (16-of-53) from the floor, 36 percent (5-of-14) from 3-point range and 67 percent (6-of-9) from the foul line. DePauw shot a blistering 58 percent (40-of-69) overall and 56 percent (15-of-27) from downtown.

The Tigers won the rebounding battle 47-20 and outscored the Scots in second chance points, 24-5, and points in the paint 44-14.

The Scots travel to Wittenberg University on Tuesday.
