Chritz Records Double-Double in Road Loss

Alyssa Chritz The College of Wooster women's basketball team fell to Farleigh Dickinson University-Florham on the road on Tuesday, 77-63. 

The Scots were led by a 20-point, 13-rebound performance from senior Alyssa Chritz. It was her third double-double of the season, while she also recorded two assists and two steals.

Sophomore Ella Biondi followed with 18 points on 8 of 12 shooting and added seven rebounds and three blocks. First-year Ace Sturdivant added 14 points, four assists and four rebounds.

FDU-Florham played just six players and had their entire starting five reach double figures in points. Neysa Aguilar scored a team-high 18 points, while Shannon Tighe recorded the double-double at 10 points and 16 rebounds.

Chritz went 3 of 8 from 3-point range, hitting Wooster's only 3-pointers of the game, as the team went 3 of 18 (17 percent) for the game. FDU-Florham wasn't much better, only going 6 of 20 (30 percent) from range.

Wooster shot 38 percent (27 of 71) all together and 54 percent (6 of 11) from the foul line. FDU Florham shot 44 percent (29 of 66) and 52 percent (13 of 25) from the charity stripe.

The teams went back and forth in the first quarter as Wooster held the lead on three different occasions but only by at most two points. FDU-Florham hit the last basket of the quarter to lead 13-11.

The second quarter put Wooster in a hole they could not get out of as they ended up trailing 36-25 at halftime. Wooster cut the lead to single digits in the third quarter and trailed by just six with less than two minutes remaining in the third. By the end of the third, they trailed 54-45.

In the fourth, Wooster could not gain much ground as FDU-Florham (7-3) put the game away with some late free throws.

Wooster (4-6) is off until the new year, in which they will open North Coast Athletic Conference play when they travel to Kenyon College on Jan. 3.
