Scots Fall to Tigers

Wittenberg University showed why they are one of the top teams in the North Coast Athletic Conference on Saturday, defeating The College of Wooster women's basketball team 90-32 on Saturday.

Senior Alyssa Chritz led the Scots with 15 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Erica Beaty also pulled down eight boards to go along with three points.

Ella BiondiAce Sturdivant and Melissa Burtscher all contributed four points each.

Wittenberg had four reach double figures in scoring, led by 16 from Riane Burton.

Sturdivant connected on an impressive reverse layup to give Wooster an early 2-0 lead, which they held for the first minute of the game. From there, their shots did not fall for as Wooster went 5 of 29 from the floor and 0-12 from beyond the arc after the first two periods.

Wittenberg (10-4, 3-1 NCAC) came out of the half leading 47-16 and saw similar success in the second half as their depth provided to be too much for the Scots.

Wooster (4-10, 0-4 NCAC) ended up shooting 18 percent (11 of 60) for the game and did eventually connect on a pair of 3-pointers in the second half. The Scots also went 8 of 11 from the foul line.

Wittenberg shot 57 percent (39 of 69) from floor and 44 percent (7 of 16) from range.

Wittenberg outrebounded Wosoter 45-33, scored 14 second chance points and 16 fast break points.

Next, the Scots hit the road to take on Oberlin College on Wednesday.
