Pacing the nine-team field with a school record-tying 334 score during the second round of its Wooster Spring Invitational, The College of Wooster women's golf team finished in third-place at the annual event, held this year at Mohican Hills Golf Club in Jeromesville, Ohio, on Saturday and Sunday.

Wooster was sitting in fourth (362), 10 strokes back of third and just one ahead of fifth, through 18 holes, before hitting the 334 mark for the second time in program history to move up Sunday. With three of the Fighting Scots' players improving their individual score by seven or more shots the second 18, the team wound up with a 696 total, not far behind Denison University (671) and Baldwin Wallace University (686) and well ahead of the University of Mount Union (712), Ohio Northern University (730), and four others.

Individually, three Wooster golfers came in the top-10, led by Sharmeen Chinoy, who tied with two others for Sunday's low round via a 78 on the par-72, 5,829-yard course. The Scots' sophomore standout was one-under through five holes, thanks to a birdie on the par-four fifth, and just two-over on the front nine. Her back nine featured a birdie on the par-four 12th, as she ended up improving 10 strokes from Saturday's 88 and took fourth out of 56 competitors.

Senior Rainey Sullivan turned in a season-low 81, including a birdie on the par-four, 377-yard ninth hole and 11 pars, which after Saturday's 92 gave her a 173 and tie for eighth-place. One of the players she tied with was first-year teammate Mallorey Stack, who was not in Wooster's starting lineup but made a strong push for it over the two days by carding an 83 and 90 while playing as an individual.

The Scots' other scorers during the tourney were rookies Hannah Buzolits, who equaled Chinoy with a team-low 88 on Saturday, then matched it on Sunday to tie for 13th (176), and Emily Howerton, who fired a 94 and an 87 to tie for 22nd-place (181).

The event was originally supposed to take place at the Wooster Country Club, but wet grounds there forced a move earlier in the week.
