The College of Wooster's women's golf team made up some ground during the second day of the Laura Bump Invitational, as it moved up from a tenth-place tie to an eighth-place tie, to conclude the 18-team, 36-hole event hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at the Mill Creek Golf Club in Ostrander, Ohio.

The Fighting Scots shot a 352 on Saturday over the par-71, 5,834-yard course, and then trimmed a few strokes Sunday, shooting a 347, which resulted in a two-day score of 699. That tied them with Davenport University and Ohio Wesleyan for eighth-place. Fellow North Coast Athletic Conference foe, Wittenberg University, won the team championship with a 634.

Wooster's top-three scorers all shot better on Sunday, including Sharmeen Chinoy, who shot an 84-82 (166), which was good for 16th overall among a crowded field of 105 golfers.

Rainey Sullivan carded an 88-86 (174) and Hannah Buzolits added a 90-86 (176). Rounding out Wooster scorers was Mallorey Stack with a 90-93 (183), although Emily Howerton came very close to factoring in as well with a 90-97 (187).

The Scots' season has been building up to their next two events, which will determine their place in the NCAC Standings. The first event of the conference championship series will be at the Twin Bridges Golf Club at Danville, Ohio on April 26-27.
