Scots Now In Hunt For Third-Place at NCAC Championships

Ally Siewert College of Wooster Golf MANSFIELD, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's golf team improved by 23 strokes in round two of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, and third-place is now within striking distance for the Fighting Scots. Wooster sits at 747 with 18 holes remaining at this year's 54-hole conference event, and that is just 11 strokes back of third-place Allegheny College, which has a two-day total of 736.

Ally Siewert led Saturday's massive drop, as the first-year had a 14-stroke bounce back by herself. Siewert's 87 was tied for the sixth-lowest round of the day. Strong starts carried Siewert, with the first-year logging pars on holes two through four, then again on the first three holes on the back-nine. Siewert vaulted up the leaderboard and is currently tied for 15th-place.

Sophomore Melissa Burtscher continues to rate as Wooster's top performer. Burtscher fired a second 88 at the conference event, and is still tied for sixth-place at 176. Burtscher birded the par-4, 345-yard seventh hole on Saturday and played the par-5 holes at the par-73, 5,834-yard Westbrook Country Club at 2-over-par.

Senior Meghan Wright was another key piece to the Scots' massive round-two improvement. Wright's 92 marked a 10-stroke bounce back, and she is currently tied for 21st-place at 194. Junior Riley Thorr, who birded the par-4, 367-yard 10th hole, improved by seven strokes. Thorr's 95 brought the junior's two-day total to 197, and she is 23rd in the field.

Senior Kayla Audette continues to rank in the top-20 at 193. Audette shot a 99 on Saturday.

Denison University sports a 66-stroke lead heading into the final round. The Big Red had a two-day score of 643, while DePauw University is in second-place at 709. The Big Red's Sophia Alexander is the individual leader at 153.
