Pan Cards Record in Wooster Debut

Ada Pan, Melissa Burtscher, Wooster Golf GRANVILLE, Ohio – Sophomore transfer Ada Pan debuted as a Fighting Scot with a program-record 74, and The College of Wooster women's golf team shot a 339 at the rain-shortened Lynn Schweizer Invitational, held at the par-72, 5,690-yard Denison University Golf Club. Wooster tied for ninth-place in a 14-team field that featured three teams in the year-end top-20 Golfstat rankings.

Pan, who tied for fourth, soared out of the gate with birdies on holes, two, three, and four. She made the turn at even-par and was even through hole 13. Pan's fourth birdie of the day came on the par-4, 322-yard 18th hole. Pan's 74 is one stroke better than alumna Hannah Appleman's 75 logged at the 2019 Laura Bump Invitational.

Melissa Burtscher's junior year started in strong fashion with a 78, a total two off the collegiate-best. Burtscher started Saturday's back-nine with a birdie on the par-5, 455-yard 10th hole, and had a circle on the card for hole 16. The junior, who tied for 16th-place, played the back-nine at 2-over-par.

Junior Drew Patterson, who tied for 69th-place, fired a 92, one off a collegiate-best. Patterson played the par-3 holes at 2-over-par. Senior Riley Thorr rounded out the lineup and shot a 95.

Wooster last had two players shoot in the 70s in the same round at the 2019 Westminster College Fall Invitational.

Washington University in Saint Louis won the tournament with a 297. WashU's Sydney Kuo captured medalist honors with a 3-under-par 69.

Next, Wooster travels to the Transylvania University Fall Invitational, which takes place September 10-11 at the University of Kentucky Big Blue Course.
