Wooster Convincingly Wins Mount Union Spring Invite

Grace Lindgren, Wooster Golf ALLIANCE, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's golf team's winning ways continued this spring, as the Fighting Scots ran away with the title at Sunday's seven-team University of Mount Union Spring Invitational, which took place at Tannenhauf Golf Club. Wooster's 336 led the seven-team field by 12 strokes.

Wooster, which is undefeated this spring, saw sophomore Ally Siewert fire an 80 to tie for third-place. Siewert logged 11 pars on the day, was 1-over-par on the par-3 holes, and played the last 13 holes at 4-over par.

Juniors Melissa Burtscher and Grace Lindgren were right behind at 81, making the Scots the lone team to have a pair of top-six finishers, and Wooster actually had three. Burtscher matched Siewert for the team lead with 11 pars, and the junior's steady play on the par-3 holes resulted in no dropped strokes there. Lindgren started strong with four pars out of the gate and played the par-5 holes at 1-over-par.

Junior Drew Patterson rounded out the scorers with a 94 and sophomore Maddie Moran debuted in the lineup at a traditional tournament with a 109. Patterson's round included three pars, two of which came on par-3 holes.

Westminster College (Pennsylvania) was the runner-up. Malone University's Jocelyn Troyer's 78 held for medalist honors.

Wooster, which beat Savannah State University in a match play event last week, last won a traditional tournament last April, when the Fighting Scots brought home the hardware from the five-team John Carroll University Invitational

Next, Wooster hosts its Wooster Spring Invitational, with tee times at Wooster Country Club starting at noon on Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2.
