Scots Third at Home Event

Riley Thorr, Wooster Golf WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's golf team shot a 339 to take third-place at the Wooster Spring Invitational, which was held Sunday at the par-72, 5,630-yard Wooster Country Club.

Junior Melissa Burtscher was the low Fighting Scot at 80, which was the third-place score. Burtscher rolled in a birdie on the par-4, 363-yard second hole and played both nine-hole stretches at 4-over-par. Burtscher had eight pars in the round and played holes 13 through 18 at 1-over-par. The junior now has three top-five finishes on the year.

Sophomore Ally Siewert logged a second top-five finish on the year with an 82. The most-recent North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week selection fired off three straight pars to start and was 3-over-par at the turn. Siewert had three pars on the back nine, including the final two holes.

Junior Grace Lindgren shot an 86 to tie for 10th-place in what marked her second straight top-10 showing. Lindgren birdied the par-3, 147-yard eighth hole and played nine holes at par or better in the team's final competitive round of the year at Wooster Country Club.

Riley Thorr's 91 was one off a season-best, and that netted the Scots' lone senior a 19th-place finish. Thorr logged a steady showing over the front nine during Sunday's shotgun start, playing that stretch at 4-over-par. Thorr had seven pars on the front nine, including holes five through nine.

Sophomore Maddie Moran's 105 rounded out the lineup, while first-year Alexis Neal played as an individual and carded a 114. Moran's round was headlined by a par on hole eight, while Neal scored a par on the par-5, 415-yard first hole.

Otterbein University led the nine-team field at 325. The Cardinals' Becky Williams was the medalist with a 3-over-par 75.

Next, Wooster is at the John Carroll University Invitational, held April 15-16 at Manakiki Golf Course in Willoughby, Ohio.
