Scots Log Seventh Consecutive Top-Three Finish

Grace Lindgren, Wooster golf WILLOUGHBY, Ohio – A seventh straight top-three finish was turned in by The College of Wooster women's golf team on Sunday, as the Fighting Scots were the runner-up at the 10-team John Carroll University Spring Invitational, which was held at the par-72, 5,603-yard Manakiki Golf Course. Wooster opened with a 344 and closed with a 352 to finish at 696.

Junior Grace Lindgren's 163 was tops on the team and led a trio of Scots in the field's top six. Lindgren's 80 on Saturday featured 11 pars, and the junior was 2-over-par over the final eight holes. Lindgren followed that up with a three-par stretch spanning holes two through four on Sunday and rolled in a birdie on the par-5, 430-yard 13th hole.

Classmate Melissa Burtscher was next at 165, which was the fifth-place score. Burtscher tied Lindgren for the team's low score of 80 on Saturday and followed that with an 85. The junior did not drop any strokes on the par 3 holes on Saturday and played the par 5 holes at 1-under-par, thanks to a birdie on the par-5, 451-yard third hole. Burtscher's Sunday round saw the junior at 2-over-par through seven holes, again paring the par 3 holes on the front nine at Manakiki.

Sophomore Ally Siewert placed sixth at 165. Siewert was on point Saturday with four birdies in a six-hole span, starting with one on the par-4, 313-yard eighth hole. Consecutive birdies by Siewert just before the turn had the sophomore at 4-over-par, and she played the final six holes of the front nine on Saturday at even par and was 1-under-par spanning holes four through 13. Siewert rolled in birdie five of the weekend on the par-4, 387-yard 10th hole on Sunday.

Senior Riley Thorr's 201 placed her in a tie for 42nd. Thorr opened with a 102 and closed with a 99. Thorr's Saturday was headlined by a birdie on No. 13. The senior had pars on two of the par 3 holes on Sunday.

Sophomore Maddie Moran rounded out the lineup, placing 46th at 211. Moran found some consistency down the homestretch of the tournament, making par on three holes on Sunday's back nine to finish with a season-best 100.

Otterbein University pulled away from the field with a two-day 656. The Cardinals' Emma McGreal was the medalist at 151.

Next, Wooster heads west to compete at the Franklin College Grizzly Spring Invitational, which takes place April 22-23.
