Siewert Matches Season-Low on Day One of NCAC's

Ally Siewert, Wooster Golf WESTFIELD CENTER, Ohio – Sophomore Ally Siewert tied her season-best with a 79 to lead The College of Wooster women's golf team on day one of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, which are taking place through Sunday at the par-70, 5,506-yard Westfield Country Club North Course. Wooster opened with a 349 and sits fourth of six teams.

Siewert sits in a tie for fifth-place. The sophomore rolled in a birdie on the par-4, 366-yard 12th hole and fired off five straight pars to cap the day. On the front nine, Siewert started with two straight pars and had five overall, for 11 holes on the day at par or better.

Junior Melissa Burtscher was next at 83, which is tied for eighth-place. Burtscher's first par of the day came on the par-4, 296-yard fifth hole, and the junior had pars on three of the final five holes on the front nine. The Fighting Scots' lineup No. 1 had a three-par stretch, starting on the par-5, 497-yard 14th hole.

Junior Grace Lindgren is tied for 13th-place at 87. She had a strong showing on Westfield's par-3 holes with pars on four of the five. Senior Riley Thorr's 100 rounded out Wooster's team scores for the day. Thorr, who is tied for 20th-place, sank par putts on both of the front nine's par-3 holes, and was even throughout the first four par-3s on the North Course.

Sophomore Maddie Moran debuted the NCAC Championships with a 104, which is 21st in the field. Moran's round was headlined by a par on the par-5, 411-yard 16th hole.

Denison University's 311 leads the way. Wittenberg University is next at 333, while Wooster is also chasing DePauw University's opening 336. The Big Red's Kate Griffin is the clubhouse leader after a 4-over-par 74.

The women's second round starts on hole 1 with tee times beginning at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. Wooster is in the first wave.
