Melissa Burtscher, Grace Lindgren, Maddie Moran, Wooster Golf WGCA Scholar All-America Release

For the fourth straight year, at least three College of Wooster women's golf student-athletes have qualified for the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team, which was announced recently. Junior Melissa Burtscher, junior Grace Lindgren, and sophomore Maddie Moran are this year's qualifiers.

Burtscher, a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® selection, logged one of the top seasons in program history. The junior placed fifth at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships to earn first-team all-conference honors. Burtscher's fifth-place finish marked the second-highest in program history. This season, Burtscher broke the program's single-season scoring record with an 81.2 average over 19 rounds and heads into a senior year .002 strokes behind the program's career scoring record. Burtscher was one of two Scots to post a single-round record 72 during the 2022-23 season.

Lindgren, a transfer from NCAA Div. II Northern Michigan University, was a third-team All-NCAC performer after tying for 11th-place at the NCAC Championships with a 54-hole 248. The junior helped the program to a school-record 335.5 average after posting an 84.9 average over 18 rounds. Lindgren was part of the team's school-record 307 at the Transylvania University Fall Invitational, with that score ranking 11 strokes better than the team's previous low round.

Moran averaged 103.6 strokes over 14 rounds as a sophomore and spent the spring season in Wooster's lineup. Moran fired a collegiate-best 94 in the final round of the Franklin College Lady Grizzly Spring Invitational and had a 97 and 98 over the final two rounds of the NCAC Championships.

Noteworthy, 11 Wooster women's golf student-athletes have qualified for the WGCA All-American Scholar Team and Burtscher is the program's fifth three-time honoree. Thirteen of Wooster's 26 all-time honorees have come in the last four years.

Eligibility criteria includes student-athletes having at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and playing in at least 50 percent of the team's rounds.
