Miura Wiley scored two second half goals to help secure the win for Wooster
on Wednesday. The Scots are now 3-0 in NCAC East play.

The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team won a key North Coast Athletic Conference East Division game against Kenyon College on Wendesday, 15-11.

The win moved the Scots to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in divisional play and gave Kenyon its first loss in its first game of the season.

Sophomore Jill Murray led the Scots offensively with four goals. She is now second on the team this season with 15 goals.

Leading scorer Alexa Mellis finished with three goals to move her season total to 22. Senior classmates Miura Wiley and Ashley Boersma added two goals as did sophomore Hannah Shaw.

Kenyon scored the game's first goal but that sparked a game-defining six-goal run from the Scots, which started with a free position goal from Murray.

The Scots had five different players score during that span in Mellis, Murray, Boersma, Shaw and Britta Treu.

Kenyon got two back before Mellis scored the next two goals on free position shots. Kenyon then made it an 8-4 game entering the half.

The two teams scored seven goals each in the second half and traded goals throughout the period.

Kenyon cut the deficit to one after three straight goals with 17:45 remaining. They accomplished the feat again with 11:37 to go in the game, but that would be the closest they would get.

Wooster once again succeeded in free position opportunities as Wiley and Murray scored on two attempts just 23 seconds apart. That made it a 13-10 game.

Kenyon scored once more before Wiley and Boersma put the game away with the final two goals.

Senior goalie Katie Shideler made 14 saves to collect her fourth win of the year. The two Kenyon goalies combined for just three saves.

Wooster was 9-for-13 in free position shots, and they were outshot by Kenyon 36-24.

Clare Leithauser led Wooster with five groundballs, and Shaw's four draw controls were a team-high.

Wooster starts a three-game homestand on Saturday when they host Kenyon.
