Key saves in both games last week enabled The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team to clinch a spot in the upcoming North Coast Athletic Conference Championship game, and Katie Shideler's performances in net caught the eye of the league office, which selected the senior 'keeper as this week's NCAC Athlete of the Week for women's lacrosse.

Shideler made 27 saves last week, 14 of which came during a 15-11 win at Kenyon College on Wednesday. That victory enabled Wooster to control its own fate within the NCAC East Division when the Ladies visited John P. Papp Stadium on Saturday. Wooster took control in that game, then held off a late Kenyon charge to win 18-12. Shideler made 13 saves in Saturday's win.

Shideler, a first-time NCAC Athlete of the Week, is the second Scot to collect the conference's weekly prize in 2021. Senior attacker Alexa Mellis was last week's NCAC Athlete of the Week honoree. Of note, this is the first time student-athletes from the same institution have won the NCAC Athlete of the Week honor in women's lacrosse in back-to-back weeks since the 2017 season.

The four-year starter now has 372 career saves and recently surpassed Isabel Perman (2013-16) for seventh on the program's all-time leaderboard.

Wooster's back in action on Wednesday, April 21, when Ohio Wesleyan University (2-4) visits for a 6 p.m. non-conference game.
