Scots Run Win Streak to Six, Down Battling Bishops 16-4

The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team made quick work of Ohio Wesleyan University on Wednesday with a 16-4 victory in a non-conference matchup.

The win moves Wooster to 6-1 with a six-game win streak.

Sophomore Britta Treu showed her finesse with a number of highlight goals and tied senior Alexa Mellis with a game-high four goals. Mellis scored the first two goals of the game and all four of hers in the first half, while Treu scored three of her four in the second half.

Senior Katie Harvey added three, sophomore Jill Murray scored twice, while Hannah Shaw, Miura Wiley and Angelina Bolivar all scored once. Bolivar's was her first collegiate goal, which came a player up on a free position shot in the first half.

Murray was everywhere as she helped to facilitate the offense with a game-high three assists. She also led the team with six ground balls and caused two turnovers.

Boersma led the team with three caused turnovers and also added three ground balls and two assists. Wooster totaled 28 ground balls, while Ohio Wesleyan had 15.

Harvey had six draw controls, and Shaw added four. Wooster won 14 draw controls to Ohio Wesleyan's seven.

Senior Katie Shideler collected her sixth win after making four saves. Junior CC Dent played the final 12 minutes and made two saves.

Wooster dominated in clears, succeeding in 11 of their 12 attempts while their defense held Ohio Wesleyan (2-5) to just nine clears on 23 attempts. The offense, meanwhile, outshot the Battling Bishops 40-16.

Wooster scored the first 11 goals and forced a running clock 5:53 left in the first half.

Wooster will be in action again Saturday when they host Wittenberg University.
