IWLCA Academic Honor Roll Release

The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team was well represented on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's academic honors, as the Fighting Scots were an Academic Honor Squad for the eighth straight year, while Ashley Boersma, CC Dent, Katie Harvey, Lillian Miller, Katie Shideler, and Miura Wiley qualified for the Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Boersma, a neuroscience major, was a member of the All-North Coast Athletic Conference East Division Team this spring after leading the conference with 23 assists. She finished fifth in the conference with 42 points, adding 19 goals, nine groundballs, and eight caused turnovers to the stat haul. Earlier this summer, Boersma qualified for the NCAC Academic Honor Roll for the third time.

Dent, a women's, gender, and sexuality studies major, made five appearances in goal this spring. There, the senior-to-be tallied eight saves and made a pair of saves in four different outings. Dent qualified for the NCAC Academic Honor Roll for the second time.

Harvey, a global and international studies major, earned a spot on the All-NCAC East Team after helping the Scots rank 11th in NCAA Div. III with 17.1 draw controls per game. Harvey finished second on the team and fourth in the NCAC with 49 draw controls. The midfielder was third on the team with 20 goals and scooped up 19 groundballs in 10 games. She made the NCAC Academic Honor Roll for the third time.

Miller, a physics major, was a reserve who entered five games on the year. The midfielder is also a two-time member of the NCAC Academic Honor Roll.

Shideler, a mathematics and physics major, finished a standout career as a first-team IWLCA All-Great Lakes Region selection. The four-year starter was the NCAC Defensive Player of the Year this spring and earned all-conference honors for the second time. Shideler ranked in the top-25 nationally with a 52.6 save percentage and had an 11.16 goals-against average. Shideler led the NCAC in minutes, saves, save percentage, and wins this spring. Shideler earned NCAC Academic Honor Roll honors for the third time over the summer.

Wiley, a biochemistry and molecular biology major, was a member of the All-NCAC East Division Team after finishing the year with 46 draw controls, 26 groundballs, 17 goals, 12 assists, and 10 caused turnovers. Wiley tracked down 11 draw controls in a 22-13 win over Allegheny College on April 10 and scored four goals to pair with two assists in that contest. Wiley earned NCAC Academic Honor Roll status for the third time this spring.

Wooster went 8-2 this spring and finished as the NCAC's runner-up. The Scots had the top seed from the East Division, thus earning the program a berth in the NCAC Championship game for the third straight time.

To qualify for IWLCA Academic Honor Squad status, teams must post at least a 3.2 team GPA for the academic year. IWLCA Academic Honor Roll requires a 3.5 cumulative GPA and the student-athlete must be at least a junior.
