Shaw Scores Four to Move Scots to 3-0

Hannah Shaw, College of Wooster lacrosse The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team stayed undefeated on Saturday with an 18-7 win over Baldwin Wallace University.

Senior Hannah Shaw tied a career-high with four goals as each of her four shots found the back of the net. Ashlyn Casey scored her first points of the year as she, Kenzie SmithLizzie Hardy and Kaitlyn McBride all tallied two goals each.

After the Yellow Jackets scored the opening goal, it was all Wooster the rest of the way. The Scots scored the next seven goals, including ending the first quarter with a 5-1 lead.

Casey started the scoring for the Scots with a free position shot. Shaw and Angelina Bolivar each got on the board before Smith scored the final two goals of the quarter.

McBride then scored the first two goals of the second period before Baldwin Wallace scored its second goal. The Scots then tallied off four straight goals and would lead 11-3 at halftime.

Fending off a chance of a comeback, Wooster opened the second half with three goals, once each from Shaw, Casey and Jill Murray.

Wooster took a 15-5 score into the final frame as Shaw connected on her final goal to start the fourth. Anna Truong and Ann Venditti added scores as well.

The senior Murray added a game-high four assists. Shaw and Hardy split for the lead of draw controls with six each, while Clare Leithauser and Lexi Sarne each totaled three ground balls.

Ashley Reynolds improved to 3-0 in net, making three saves. JG Garrison also saw time in the final 20:57 of the game.

Wooster (3-0) outshot Baldwin Wallace (1-2) 30-18 and won the draw control battle 17-10. Wooster also was 4-of-7 in free position shot attempts and 18-of-20 in clear attempts.

The Scots have now outscored opponents 52-19 to begin the year. They host Trine University on Saturday in what will be the team's senior day at Papp Stadium.
