Scots Wrap up Non-Conference Schedule with Win

Kenzie Morris KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team wrapped its non-conference schedule on Sunday with an 18-8 win over Kalamazoo College.

Wooster had little issue with its opponent after accumulating a 13-4 lead at halftime.

Kalamazoo (4-6) scored the opening goal off the stick of Ella Spooner. However, that just resulted in four straight goals from the Scots from four different players – Kenzie SmithLizzie HardyJill Murray and Kenzie Morris.

Spooner connected again to make it 4-2, but Hannah Shaw and Morris scored to close the quarter, giving Wooster a 6-2 lead.

Smith scored again to open the second quarter before Anna Truong got on the board less than a minute later. Wooster won the quarter 7-2 and was led by Morris who scored twice more in the quarter.

Hardy scored twice out of halftime to push Wooster's lead to 15-4, but Kalamazoo got both back before the end of the quarter as Wooster kept the lead at 15-6.

Finally, in the fourth quarter Shaw, Smith and Angelina Bolivar scored to put Kalamazoo away.

Morris scored four to lead Wooster. Smith and Hardy followed with three. Shaw scored twice and added three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers.

Britta Treu produced a team-high four assists. Clare Leithauser had a game high of five caused turnovers.

Ashley Reynolds made two saves in the first half to collect the win. JG Garrison made seven saves in the second half.

Wooster collected 25 groundballs to Kalamazoo's 16. Wooster also connected on 3-of-5 free position shots.

Wooster improves to 9-1 with the win, taking its winning record and a winning streak of three into North Coast Athletic Conference play next Tuesday when they host Denison University at Triway High School.
