Multiple Scots Eclipse Milestones in Loss to Tigers

Hannah Shaw, Wooster Lacrosse WOOSTER, Ohio - The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team saw two Fighting Scots surpass career milestones in a 17-14 loss to DePauw University on Saturday afternoon at Wooster High School.

Senior Hannah Shaw scored her 100th career goal on a free position shot in the second quarter and sophomore Kenzie Morris notched her 100th career point off an assist to junior Kenzie Smith in the first quarter. Shaw is the first Scot to reach 100 goals since alumna Alexa Mellis did it back in 2020.

Shaw, Morris, and Smith each netted hat tricks to lead the way for Wooster (10-4, 1-3 North Coast Athletic Conference), while Smith, Morris, and senior Britta Treu each totaled four points. Treu dished out two assists to put her at 37 assists for the year, moving up to second all-time in single-season assists. The senior is also now five assists shy of cracking into the program top-five for career helpers.

DePauw (10-3, 2-2 NCAC) held the slight advantage in the first quarter. The Scots held steady, though, opening the second period on a 3-0 run, which included Shaw's milestone goal, to take a 6-5 lead. However, DePauw closed out the half on a 4-1 run to retake the lead for good.

The Tigers tried to pull away in the third period, but Wooster responded with a strong start to the final period. Treu took control of the game, scoring two goals and dishing out an assist as part of a 4-0 run that brought the Scots back within one goal with 12:06 remaining in the game. DePauw eventually closed on a 3-1 run of its own to secure the victory.

Sophomore Ashley Reynolds suffered the loss in the cage, making four stops. Sophomore JG Garrison also saw action in the second half and recorded two saves.

Wooster held the statistical advantage in ground balls (25-19) and shots taken (35-29) while the Tigers committed two fewer turnovers (23-21). Draw controls were evenly split between the teams with Shaw and Morris combining to corral 13 of the Scots' 17. Already the program's all-time leader, Shaw is now just three draw controls shy of 300 for her career.

Emily Napier scored four times for DePauw. The Tigers' Lydia Hollis made 13 saves.

The Scots will host Ohio Wesleyan University (10-4, 3-1 NCAC) for the home finale on Wednesday, April 26, at 6:30 p.m. at Triway High School.
