Wooster Nets Season-High 23 Goals in Saturday Win

Kenzie Morris, Wooster Lacrosse WOOSTER, Ohio – The last Saturday of spring break equals major offense for The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team, which scored a season-high 23 goals in a 23-12 win over Transylvania University at John P. Papp Stadium.

Wooster (7-1) hit 20 goals for the third time this year. The 23 goals are the most since the program dropped 26 into the net against Illinois Wesleyan University in 2023, with that game also coming on the final Saturday of spring break.

Junior Kenzie Morris' seven goals led all players, and the midfielder is now within 25 scores of an all-time top-10 spot in program history. Morris logged her third-career seven-goal game and the total is tied for the eighth-most in single-game program history.

Junior Kaitlyn McBride, senior Ciara O'Connor, and senior Kenzie Smith followed with four goals each. Free-position goals were an area of strength for the Scots, as Wooster converted 6-of-9.

Wooster broke free in the third period, outscoring Transylvania (2-5) 11-2 from the start of the third until the 8:32 mark of the fourth quarter. Transition scores helped Wooster pull away. Sophomore Lizzie Hardy had one of them, taking the ball nearly the length of the field following a junior Ashley Reynolds save. Hardy was nearly unimpeded on the way to the goal, which came with Wooster a player down. Less than a minute later, Morris immediately went in and scored following the junior's fourth draw control of the contest.

Sophomore Sidney O'Rourke's play in the midfield enabled Wooster to win the draw control battle 21-16. O'Rourke's eight led all players, while Hardy was right behind with seven. Morris rounded out the starting unit with five draw controls.

Elsewhere, Hardy's stick checks added up to three caused turnovers, a total that matched junior Lexi Sarne for tops on the afternoon. Sarne was credited with four groundballs, the leading total among Wooster's squad. Reynolds ended the day with six saves.

Diana Bruder and Charlotte Green scored three goals each for Transylvania. Green added seven draw controls and two assists to the stat line.

Wooster nearly doubled up Transylvania on shots, 38-20. Wooster limited the miscues with 15 turnovers, marking the third time the Scots have finished with 15 or fewer this spring.

Wooster went 13-of-17 on clears, compared to a 15-of-22 line for Transylvania.

Wooster is idle until a 3 p.m. game at Trine University (4-2) on Saturday, March 30.
