Delaney Benson, who has played with Israel Lacrosse’s Women’s National Team, is The College of Wooster’s assistant women’s lacrosse coach. Benson joined the staff on September 1, 2022.

Benson competed at the recent World Championships as a midfielder and helped Israel to a sixth-place finish out of 30 teams. World Lacrosse awarded Benson a “Heart and Spirit of Lacrosse” award at the conclusion of the tournament.

While competing for Israel, Benson gained significant coaching experience with the country’s U-19 teams. Specifically, Benson assisted with the youth development programs, managed operations including strength and conditioning sessions, practice planning, team and one-on-one instruction, and travel logistics. Additionally, Benson assisted with immigration status and helping prospective team members secure dual citizenship in Israel to be eligible to compete for roster spots in signature international events.

Benson was a four-year starter at NCAA Div. II Fort Lewis College. She scored 46 goals in 36 games, passed out 11 assists, scooped up 42 groundballs, and won 16 draw controls. As a senior, Benson was voted first-team Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic, and earned three RMAC All-Academic certificates overall. Additionally, the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association awarded Benson an Academic Achievement Award at the conclusion of the 2019-20 academic year.

Benson has a degree in exercise physiology from Fort Lewis.
