Scots Secure No. 3 Seed in NCAC Tournament

Hallie Krzys The College of Wooster women's soccer team secured the No. 3 seed in the upcoming North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament after defeating Denison University 1-0 on Saturday.

Denison (11-4, 7-1 NCAC) earned the No. 1 seed and the NCAC season title prior to the contest but did suffer its first loss in conference play at the hands of the Scots on Saturday.

The difference was a goal from first-year Hallie Krzys who scored after being led by a pass from the midfield by sophomore Grace Gascoigne. The goal, which came in the 75th minute, was Krzys's eighth of the year for third best on the team.

First-year goalkeeper Amanda Flory saw plenty of action as she recorded her second consecutive shutout and tied a career-high with nine saves.

Both offenses saw plenty of action as the Big Red outshot the Scots 27-20. They also took three corner kicks, while Wooster had none.

Denison had an exciting sequence with the game still scoreless in the 68th minute when they had three consecutive shots hit either the post or crossbar. Less than 10 minutes later, Krzys hit the game winner.

Wooster improves to 10-7-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the NCAC. They will travel to No. 2 seeded Kenyon College (8-8-1, 5-2-1) in the NCAC Tournament at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The other matchup features Denison and Wittenberg (8-8-1, 5-3).
