Scots Salvage Split to Open Season

Bailey Farrell The College of Wooster women's soccer team fought back from a 2-0 deficit to salvage a tie in its season opener at Marietta College on Thursday.

Marietta scored both its goals in the first half via Melissa Szawranskyj who scored in the 22nd and 36th minutes.

Wooster countered with two second half goals. Hallie Krzys got the Scots on the board in the 67th minute, while Bailey Farrell got her shot just across the line to tie the game at two in the 83rd minute.

It was Farrell's second shot attempt of the game, while Krzys led the team with five shots and three on goal.

Amanda Flory and Kameryn Nelson split time in net with Flory taking the first half and Nelson the second. Each collected two saves.

Their counterpart, Madison Miller, made 11 saves as Wooster put 13 of their 24 shots on goal. Wooster (0-0-1) outshot Marietta (0-0-1) 24-11.

The Scots return for their home opener on Sunday as they take on the visiting Allegheny College Gators.
