Scots’ Rally Thwarted in 1-0 Loss

Lindsey Moore Westminster College scored on a penalty kick in the in eighth minute, and that became the game winner as the Titans held off a late Scots push to win 1-0 on Wednesday.

The College of Wooster women's soccer team was called for a trip in the box, which allowed Julia Redilla to connect on the game's only score.

Both teams tallied seven shots in the first half, but Wooster picked up the pressure by outshooting the Titans 12-2 in the second.

The Scots had three particular shots come close in the winding minutes of the game. Sophomore Emma Jaros had a shot go off the crossbar, while classmate Lily Glaza had one go just high. Then, senior Teddi Farson in the 88th minute had a header from a corner go just wide.

It was the first time Wooster (2-2-2) had been shutout all year, and additionally the first time Hallie Krzys hasn't scored in a game.

Westminster, meanwhile, continues its strong start on the year, moving to 4-1-1.

Wooster keeper Amanda Flory recorded four saves, while her counterpart Morgan Murphy collected eight. Westminster had a 5-0 first half advantage in corner kicks, while Wooster countered with a 4-1 second half.

Wooster will look to rebound Saturday when they travel to Wilmington College.
