Sophomores Lead Way in Win at Wilmington

Hallie Krzys The College of Wooster women's soccer team captured a road victory on Saturday with a 3-2 victory over Wilmington College.

Wooster got off to a quick start with a goal from Hallie Krzys in the fifth minute. It was her team-leading sixth goal of the year.

Wilmington got one back in the 17th minute off a penalty kick goal from Shannon Jamieson. The teams went into halftime tied 1-1, until Emma Jaros scored out of the gate in the second to make it 2-1.

However, the Quakers knotted the game in the 66th minute via another penalty kick goal, this time by Elizabeth Matthews.

Fortunately for the Scots, the tie did not last long as sophomore Maggie Stieby found the right time to score her first collegiate goal in the 70th minute.

Amanda Flory was in net for the Scots. She got the win and accumulated eight saves.

Wooster was outshot 14-9 and fended off eight corner kicks. Flory's counterpart, Lauren Galloway, made four saves.

Wilmington drops to 3-2, while Wooster improves to 3-2-2. The Scots travel to Mount Union on Wednesday.
