Scots Suffer First NCAC Loss

Kelsey Maley The College of Wooster women's soccer team allowed a first half goal and could not find the equalizer in a 1-0 loss to DePauw University on Saturday.

Annalise Grammel put DePauw on the board in the 24th minute after a double assist from Sydney Calisto and Ellie Mahan, who found Grammel on the cross.

DePauw controlled the first half by outshooting Wooster 11-5. Wooster countered in the second half by outshooting the Tigers 13-9 as desperation heightened later in the game.

Wooster keeper Kameryn Nelson made eight saves as her record moved to 3-2-2 on the season. Her counterpart, Emma St. John, made five saves.

This was the first North Coast Athletic Conference contest of the year for DePauw, who moves to 6-2-3 overall.

Wooster ends a two-game winning streak. They are now 6-4-2 overall and 1-1 in the NCAC after defeating Oberlin 4-2 in the conference opener.

Wooster returns to action Wednesday when they host Kenyon College.
