Scots Start Scoring Early in 2-2 Tie

Naomi Mann PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The College of Wooster women's soccer team jumped on Chatham University early but could not sustain its two-goal lead in a 2-2 tie on Saturday.

Two of Wooster's main attackers got on the board early. Last year's leading scorer Hallie Krzys scored just 13 minutes into the contest, while senior Naomi Mann found the back of the net about four minutes later for Wooster to take an early 2-0 lead.

That score held until Chatham was awarded a penalty kick opportunity in the 40th minute. Grace Gent connected against starting goalkeeper Amanda Flory as Wooster then took a 2-1 lead into halftime.

Chatham scored just 3:42 into the second half on new keeper Kameryn Nelson to knot the game at two as Ainsley Smith scored. From there, neither team could find the game winner.

Wooster outshot Chatham 16-7, but the Scots only found four shots on goal. Wooster had five corner kicks in the game, all coming within the second half.

It was the first game for both teams as they each move to 0-0-1. Wooster returns to the field Sunday when they face Allegheny College.
