Scots Collect First Win Behind Goals From Glaza, Mann

Lily Glaza ALLEGHENY, Pa. – The College of Wooster women's soccer team got into the win column for the first time this year, defeating former North Coast Athletic Conference foe Allegheny College 2-0 on Saturday.

A scoreless game through the first 70 minutes, a pair risky fouls from the Gators led to both goals from the Scots.

In the 73rd minute, sophomore Julia Struck was tripped up, setting up a free kick right outside the top of the box.

Senior Naomi Mann took the kick and tapped a pass to junior Bailey Farrell whose shot was blocked. Mann then collected the ball, sent it in right at the feet of Lily Glaza who scored the goal.

It was the junior defender's first collegiate goal.

Mann later got her turn with a penalty kick score in the 79th minute. She had a breakaway but ended up with being tripped in the box to give her the opportunity to put Wooster ahead 2-0.

It was Mann's second goal of the weekend, after scoring once in the team's 2-2 tie against Chatham University on Saturday.

Wooster outshot Allegheny 16-6, including a 10-5 mark in the second half. Goalkeepers Kameryn Nelson and Amanda Flory again split time in net, each playing a half. Flory collected two saves as well as the win.

Wooster is now 1-0-1, while Allegheny drops to 0-2-0.

The Scots travel to Bluffton University on Tuesday before hosting Grove City College on Saturday for its first home contest.
