Scots Show Dominance Late in 2-0 Win

Grace Gascoigne The College of Wooster women's soccer team defeated Muskingum University 2-0 on Sunday.

The score may not reflect it, but Wooster was in firm control for its fourth win of the season. Wooster outshot Muskingum 33-8, including a 25-6 mark in the second half, but it took until the final 15 minutes of the game to find the back of the net twice.

Wooster's two leading scorers came through as senior Grace Gascoigne hit the game winner in the 78th minute. She rebounded her own blocked shot in in the middle of the box and made her next attempt count.

Then with under 30 seconds to play, junior Maggie Stieby led classmate Hallie Krzys down an open field for an easy score to wrap up the game. It was Stieby's first point of the year and her second assist of her collegiate career.

Krzys's goal was her third of the year, while Gascoigne notched her second. Both scored in the team's last game out as well, in a 3-1 win over Grove City College.

Sophomore Kameryn Nelson collected her first full game shutout in net this season. She needed to make just one save.

Wooster had 15 chances on corner kicks, while Muskingum had just one. Muskingum keeper Kyleigh Dahlgren made 10 saves.

Muskingum drops to 0-3-1 as they not only look for its first win but still its first goal in the young season. Wooster moves to 4-0-1 and will host Marietta College (2-1) on Wednesday.
