Scots Unbeaten Streak Ends at Oberlin

Hallie Krzys OBERLIN – The College of Wooster women's soccer team took its first defeat of the season in a 2-1 loss at Oberlin College on Wednesday.

Wooster went 11 games without a loss, but in its second North Coast Athletic Conference game they fall to 9-1-2 overall and 1-1 in the NCAC.

Oberlin (6-5-1, 1-1 NCAC) opened scoring in the 30th minute. The Yeowomen made a quick push as Zoe Garver dribbled around a diving attempt from Wooster goalkeeper Amanda Flory and scored off the left foot.

A pair of shots from Grace Gascoigne and Hallie Krzys were both saved in the final 15 minutes of the first half, and Oberlin led 1-0 at halftime.

Wooster got into a hole they could not dig out of when Naomi Mann prevented a score for a team save. However, it resulted in a handball and her second yellow card, ejecting Wooster's leading scorer of the season.

To add salt on the wound, Oberlin's Brynn Adams connected on the penalty kick to put the Yeowomen up 2-0.

The Scots did not give up while playing a person down.

Junior Lily Glaza took advantage of a defensive miscue and scored for the Scots in the 86th minute, her third of the season. Wooster kept the pressure on in the final minutes and got a decent shot with seconds remaining, but it sailed high.

Wooster only took two shots in the second half and were outshot 14-11. Flory made five saves, while Oberlin's Ali Grant made seven.

Wooster will look to get back into the win column on Saturday when they host Denison University.
