Solid Outing for Women's Tennis Nets 7-2 Victory

Kim Nguy?n The College of Wooster women's tennis team got back in the win column Saturday with a 7-2 win over John Carroll University.

The Scots got off to a 2-1 start with the top two doubles teams taking care of business.

Otilia Oita and Janaki Jagannathan took an 8-1 win at the No. 1 spot, while the No. 2 team of Katie Materick and Abby Williams won 8-5. The No. 3 team of Abby Kushner Benson and Kim Nguyen fell 8-3.

In singles play, Wooster took all but the No. 1 spot, but even then Oita pushed her opponent to a third set super tiebreaker, falling 7-6 (5), 3-6, 1-0.

The rest of the flights were won in straight sets.

At No. 2, Jagannathan won 6-3, 6-4, and at No. 3, Nguyen won 6-1, 6-3.

In the No. 4 slot, Williams took a 6-3, 6-2 win.

Materick won 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 5 flight in the night's most decisive win, while Abby Aitken won 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 6 flight.

Wooster moves to 2-1 on the year and will host Otterbein University at Aspen Racquet Club on Friday. The Blue Streaks fall to 0-2.
