Women's Tennis Goes 2-0 For the Weekend

Trio The College of Wooster women's tennis team went perfect this weekend after defeating Kalamazoo College 6-3 on Saturday.

The win moves the women to 4-1 on the year after they defeated Otterbein University 8-1 on Friday as well.

The Scots started Saturday with a 2-1 lead after doubles action.

The No. 1 team started things off as Otilia Oita and Janaki Jagannathan took an 8-3 win. Shortly after, the No. 3 team of Abby Kushner Benson and Katie Materick gave Wooster a 2-0 lead with an 8-2 win.

At the No. 2 spot, Charitha Patlolla and Abby Williams took an 8-6 loss to Meghan Killmaster and Maddie Hurley.

In singles play, Oita fell in the No. 1 spot to Renee Torres 6-4, 6-0.

At No. 2, Jagannathan won 6-1, 6-3. Kim Nguyen got the win in the No. 3 flight, 6-3, 6-2, and Williams took a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 4 position.

Materick tallied Wooster's final point with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at the No. 5 slot. Abby Aitken took her opponent to three sets in the No. 6 flight but fell 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.

The women will host Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday in another contest at Aspen Racquet Club.
