Ranked Carnegie Mellon Takes Down Scots

Margaret Steward The College of Wooster women's tennis team welcomed 11th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University to Aspen Racquet Club on Saturday in a 9-0 loss.

The Scots went down in straight sets in singles play and won at least one game in its doubles matches. 

Kim Nguyen brought the best fight in her first set, falling 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles slot. Janaki Jagannathan moved up to the No. 1 position and fell 6-0, 6-2.

Abby Williams fell 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles match, and Katie Materick lost 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 4 match. At No. 5 Abby Aitken fell 6-2, 6-0, and at No. 6, Margaret Steward took a 6-1, 6-0 loss.

In doubles play, Williams and Jagannathan teamed at No. 1 and lost 8-1. Aitken and Materick fell 8-3 in the No. 2 slot, while Abby Kushner Benson and Nguyen lost 8-2 at the No. 3 flight.

The Tartans move to 7-1, while the Scots fall to 4-2. Next, Wooster travels to Ohio Northern University on Saturday.
