Scots Take 6-3 Win Over Ohio Northern

Otilia Oita LIMA – The College of Wooster women's tennis team got back in the win column on Saturday with a 6-3 win over Ohio Northern University.

A quick lead was gained thanks to the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles squads. After the No. 3 team of Charitha Patlolla and Abby Kushner Benson fell 8-4, the No. 1 team of Janaki Jagannathan and Otilia Oita won by the same score.

Katie Materick and Abby Williams gave the Scots the early edge with an 8-3 win to conclude the doubles matches.

In singles play, Oita got things started with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 1 flight. Wooster pulled ahead even further after Kim Nguyen's 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 4 flight.

On the other end of the flights, Materick made it a 5-1 lead and gave Wooster the win after taking the No. 6 flight 6-2, 6-1.

Ohio Northern later got one back in the No. 5 flight with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Williams. In the No. 2 flight, Jagannathan won 6-2, 7-5, and, finally, Patlolla fell at the No. 3 spot 6-4, 7-6 (3).

Wooster improves to 5-2 and drop Ohio Northern to 3-2.

Next, the Scots embark on a spring break trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C., with their first opponent against Principia College on March 15.
