Wooster Wins Crucial NCAC Matchup for Behrman's 100th Career Win

Kim Nguy?n WOOSTER – The College of Wooster women's tennis team got back in the win column on Sunday by defeating DePauw University, 5-4, at Aspen Racquet Club in North Coast Athletic Conference play.

With the victory, head coach Amy Behrman recorded her 100th career win as a collegiate head coach. Wooster improves to 9-4 overall, including 1-1 in the NCAC, while DePauw slips to 4-12 and 0-3 in league play. Wooster is ranked No. 12 in the ITA Central Region rankings, while DePauw is ranked No. 20.  

The Fighting Scots took a 2-1 lead after doubles play, opening the match with an 8-3 victory at the No. 3 flight from Kim Nguyen and Abby Williams. After the No. 2 tandem of Charitha Patlolla and Katie Materick lost an 8-6 decision, Janaki Jagannathan and Otilia Oita rallied for an 8-7(4) win at No. 1 after falling behind early, 5-0. 

In singles play, Patlolla posted a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3, while Nguyen claimed a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 to give Wooster a 4-2 lead. Oita clinched the match at No. 1 with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win. 

In other singles matches for the Fighting Scots, Jagannathan lost 7-6(5), 6-2 at No. 2. Williams lost 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 5, and Materick fell 7-5, 6-0 at No. 6. 

Wooster returns to the court Tuesday when it hosts Kenyon College at 4:30 p.m.
