Nationally Ranked Owls Down Regionally Ranked Scots

The College of Wooster women's tennis team ran into the buzzsaw that is Kenyon College on Tuesday, falling 9-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference play.

Kenyon, ranked 32nd nationally and fifth regionally, moved to 12-3 with the win and 4-0 in the NCAC. Wooster, ranked 12th in the region, moves to 9-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

In doubles play, the No. 1 and No. 2 teams each fell 8-3. The No. 3 team of Kim Nguyen and Abby Williams won an extra game for an 8-4 loss.

The Scots also lost its singles matches in straight sets.

Otilia Oita lost at the No. 1 flight 6-0, 6-3. Janaki Jagannathan fell 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2, and Charitha Patlolla lost 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3.

Nguyen fell 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 4 slot, while her doubles partner Williams took a 6-2, 6-0 loss at the No. 5 flight. Finally, Katie Materick lost 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 6 flight.

Wooster will travel to Denison University on Friday for another NCAC matchup.
