Emily Gail ANGOLA, Indiana – The College of Wooster volleyball team warded off a sweep, and nearly took Adrian College to a fifth set on night one of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association/North Coast Athletic Conference Crossover at Trine College's MIT Center. The Bulldogs rallied back in the fourth to close the match with a 25-22, 25-17, 22-25, 25-23 victory.

Wooster (0-5) senior Hayley Nash's double-double counter climbed to four after finishing with 19 digs and 13 kills. Junior Tyara Thompson joined Nash with 23 assists and 15 digs, and the Fighting Scots nearly had a third double-double, with senior Sydney Fitzcharles coming two assists short from her libero position.

Senior Emily Gail followed Nash with eight kills, and sophomore Tamara Turner blocked four Bulldog attack attempts on the night.

Adrian's (4-2) Amber Morris tallied up 14 kills and 11 digs, while libero Mya Minjares checked in with 25 digs.

Wooster padded its third-set lead to 19-14 on junior Caroline Dillard's service ace. Dillard handcuffed Emma Thackery again two points later, with that ace making it a 21-14 set in favor of Wooster. Turner's kill brought the stanza to match point, then a Bulldog service error extended the match to a fourth set.

Fitzcharles' ace made it 18-16 Wooster in the fourth set, but a key 3-0 Adrian swing swung the lead back in favor of the Bulldogs. Dillard and Thompson blocked Amber Morris to make it 21 all prior to the run.

Wooster has two more matches at the two-conference event, with Saturday's action getting underway against host Trine (1-3) at 10 a.m.
