Scots Continue NCAC Slate in Indiana

GREENCASTLE, Indiana – Five College of Wooster volleyball players with at least six digs helped the Fighting Scots hold host DePauw University to a .170 attack percentage, but the Tigers swept the match 25-12, 25-23, 25-17 on Saturday afternoon at Neal Fieldhouse.

Senior Sydney Fitzcharles led Wooster (3-11, 0-3 North Coast Athletic Conference) with 18 digs, junior Tyara Thompson followed with 10, and sophomore Lucy Kinser and senior Hayley Nash tallied seven apiece. Nash was tops on Wooster with eight kills, and the Scots' returning first-team All-NCAC performer and Fitzcharles each served up two aces.

DePauw's (8-10, 2-1 NCAC) Olivia Karwin led all players with 10 kills, while Avery Christy paired 18 digs with 17 assists.

Eight tied scores and three lead changes occurred in the second set. Sophomore Tamara Turner's ace tied the set at 17, then DePauw went on a three-point swing. Consecutive kills by sophomore Amelia Mitchell knotted the score back up at 20 before Wooster took the lead on Karwin's attack error. Karwin's service error pushed Wooster ahead at 22-21, and Mitchell's third kill of the frame had the Scots back in front at 23-22. DePauw's Katie Gansle contributed a kill and an assisted block during the Tigers' 3-0 set-closing run.

Next, Ohio Wesleyan University (7-10, 2-1 NCAC) visits Timken Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. contest on Wednesday, October 12.
