Nash Surpasses 1,000 Career Kills as Scots Sweep Oberlin

Hayley Nash OBERLIN – Senior Hayley Nash became the eighth Fighting Scot to reach 1,000 career kills as The College of Wooster volleyball team took care of business in its North Coast Athletic Conference finale Wednesday by defeating Oberlin 3-0.

Nash needed just six kills to reach 1,000, and she tied for a game-high eight kills on Wednesday. Emily Gail added six, as did Tyara Thompson.

Caroline Dillard and Amelia Mitchell each added five kills. Thompson added a game-high 23 assists and four service aces, while Sydney Fitzcharles led the game with 20 digs.

Wooster's blocking game was also on point as Thompson assisted with a game-high four. Mitchell, Dillard and Troy Johnson all assisted with three each.

Wooster led early in the first set with a 11-4 advantage but didn't have the start as easy in the final two sets. After taking set one, 25-19, Wooster lost the first three points of the second but dominated the rest, including a final 13-2 run, to win 25-11.

In set three, Wooster reversed a 4-1 start to pull ahead 5-4. The teams stayed close throughout until Nash tallied two of Wooster's three final points for Wooster to conclude the match with a 25-22 winning set.

Wooster moves to 7-14 overall and 2-5 in NCAC play. Oberlin drops to 7-14 and 0-7 in conference play.

Wooster travels to Case Western Reserve University on Saturday for the team's regular season finale.
