In their first competition of the season, The College of Wooster men's and women's cross country teams combined to place nine individuals among the top-10 in two races at the non-scoring Wooster Invitational. Four total runs were held, a 4K and a 5K for the women and a 5K and four mile for the men, all taking place at Wooster's L.C. Boles Memorial Golf Course.

Wooster entered all but four of its competitors in the men's four mile and the women's 4K.

Returning all-region performer Luke Hutchings-Goetz paced the Fighting Scots and took fourth overall in the four mile with a time of 21:56.9. Together in a close pack were Wooster teammates Morgan Clark, Joe David, and Kevin DeGroot, as they delivered eighth- (22:29.9), ninth- (22:40.7), and 10th-place (22:45.2) respective finishes. For David, a sophomore who was a member of the soccer team last fall, it was his cross country debut.

Erin Plews-Ogan, who missed last season due to studying abroad, led the Scots' women's contingent in the 4K while finishing runner-up overall in 15:19.5. Lauren Buyan was fourth (15:36.7), Chelsea Denlinger sixth (16:09.1), Colleen O'Neil ninth (16:32.9), and Erin Andrews-Sharer 10th (16:45.5).

Also of note, in the men's 5K run, Wooster's Jairaj Ranchod crossed in seventh-place (18:17.2).

Next Saturday, the Scots will be at the Great Lakes Colleges Association Championships, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
