Callender’s Top Time Highlights Scots’ Performance at Muskingum

Drew Robertson, Wooster cross country NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The College of Wooster sophomore Will Callender delivered a first-place finish on Saturday morning during the Muskingum University Invitational 8K race.

His mark of 26:54.6 was about six seconds better than the next finisher and it helped the Fighting Scots' men snag third-place overall. Callender, a two-time North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week this fall, notched his seventh top-five finish of his career in the process.

Following Callender was classmate Drew Robertson in seventh. He crossed the finish line in 28:33.1. The Scots had one more top-10 finisher - sophomore Ben Nichols. The native of Grove City, Pennsylvania, claimed 10th with a time of 28:50.1.

Rounding out Wooster's scoring efforts were sophomore Eric Johnson and first-year Joe Ahmann. Slotted in 22nd, Johnson clocked a time of 30:04.8 while Ahmann claimed 26th place in 30:41.5.

Also of note, first-year Jack Schuller claimed 29th (31:09.0) and junior Duncan Hardy checked in at 31:17.9 (32nd place).

On the women's side, three Scots placed in the 6K race. The team's best mark came from sophomore Jessie Breth. The Orchard Park, New York, native crossed the finish line in 27:42.3, which was good for 11th.

A few runners later, sophomore Julianna Fiori earned a 16th-place finish with a time of 28:25. Wooster's last runner to finish the 6K race was another sophomore, Isabelle Dwyer. Dwyer earned a time of 28:36.6 which, slotted her in 19th.

Heidelberg University won the men's title, while West Liberty University was the top team on the women's side.

Next on the schedule for the teams is the JennaStrong Fall Classic at Wilmington College on October 14.
