Hoover, Callender, Nichols Earn All-NCAC Honors 

Isabelle Hoover The College of Wooster hosted the 2022 North Coast Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday and saw three individuals earn All-NCAC honors.

Senior Isabelle Hoover finished fourth in the women's race with a time of 23:54.9 to earn All-NCAC First Team honors. She became a four-time All-NCAC performer after earning first-team honors for the second year in a row.

Sophomore Will Callender earned second team honors for the second year in a row with a 14th place finish and a time of 27:33.8. Classmate Ben Nichols moved up to his first All-NCAC honors with third team recognition at 19th and a time of 27:41.1.

The women finished with 167 points for seventh as Wittenberg University scored 39 to take the NCAC title. The men scored 147 points for sixth as Oberlin College took the men's title with 44 points.

Callender and Nichols led the pack for the men, who performed higher than their projected eighth place finish from the pre-championship coaches poll. 

Sophomore Drew Robertson was about three seconds shy of making the third team, running a time of 27:52.5 for 22nd. Rounding out the top five for the men were sophomore Eric Johnson in 52nd (29:27.4) and junior Duncan Hardy in 64th (30:12.7).

Also running for the Scots were Mitch Ecklund (74th, 30:58.6), Michail Protopapadakis (75th, 30:59.2) and first-year Joe Ahmann (77th, 31:15).

On the women's side, sophomore Igna Mendez was Wooster's second finisher in 44th (26:56.7). Classmate Isabelle Dwyer was not far behind in 48th (27:18.2).

Two other sophomores rounded out scoring as Eva Bauman finished 58th (28:21.7) and Elise Greenwald placed 60th (28:37.1).

Also running for the Scots were Jessie Breth (61st, 28:45), Julianna Fiori (65th, 29:48), Bri Becerra (68th, 30:33.6), Lily Baker (69th, 30:56.3), Kira Boyce (70th, 30:58.3) and Judith Topham (71st, 31:55.6).

Also of note, Hoover's finish was the highest for a Scot since Katie Wieferich won the race in 2006.

Next up, Wooster will host the Twilight 5K Challenge on Nov. 4 at Papp Stadium.
