Wooster Cross Country Teams

USTFCCCA Academic Awards Release

The College of Wooster cross country teams remain among the leaders within the department's 23 varsity sports when it comes to collective academic excellence. Once again, Wooster's men and women earned the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team honor. Additionally, junior Dylan Kretchmar was a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete, as announced by the organization on Thursday.

Wooster's women's cross country team checked in with a 3.72 GPA, while the men posted a 3.37. For the women, the academic honor marked the program's 19th in the last 20 years, while the men have qualified 18 times in the last 19 seasons.

Kretchmar, who earned a first USTFCCCA All-Academic award, captured All-Great Lakes Region honors by placing inside the top-35 at the NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Regional Championships. The junior posted a career-best championship-length time of 21:36.6 at the regional championships to place 27th overall. At the NCAC Championships, Kretchmar landed on the All-NCAC first-team with a fifth-place time of 22:42.8. Earlier in the season, Kretchmar was an All-Ohio performer and was named the NCAC Athlete of the Week after breaking the tape with a time of 20:32.2 in the Denison Dual Meet Series.

Criteria for the team honor includes scoring at a NCAA regional meet and posting a cumulative GPA of at least 3.1 on a 4.0 scale. Individual accolades require a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and a finish within the top-25 percent of a regional championship meet.
