WOOSTER, Ohio – After being unable to comeback and dropping the completion of Saturday's game 12-8, The College of Wooster, ranked No. 21 in this week's D3baseball.com top-25 poll, bounced back with a Tuesday sweep of Allegheny College by 8-2 and 10-3 scores at Art Murray Field, as the rivals split their North Coast Athletic Conference East Division four-game series.

Zach Woullard provided Wooster (11-4, 2-2 NCAC) a big lift by throwing the second complete game of his career during the first full game on Tuesday. The senior right-hander limited Allegheny (7-9, 2-2 NCAC East) to the two runs on six hits and struck out four while issuing just two free passes during the seven innings.

The offense gave Woullard a 2-0 lead to work with during the second inning, which started with a sharply-hit Jamie Lackner single and a Ryan Ostendorf leadoff walk. An out later, Chris Fafalios drew a walk to load the bases and Joey Gilmore singled just over the second baseman's outstretched glove for the first run. A sacrifice fly resulted in the two-run advantage.

After the Gators scratched one across in the top of the third, the Fighting Scots answered with a run of their own when Michael Wielansky delivered an RBI double to left-center to plate Kenny Reckart, who had walked.

Wooster continued to add to its 3-1 advantage with another tally during the fourth and two in the fifth. Gilmore began the fourth with a single and eventually scored, and in the fifth, he belted a two-run homer over the fence in left.

Allegheny cut into the lead when a double by Joe Killian put runners on second and third with no outs in the sixth inning, but Woullard limited the damage, yielding just one score to make it 6-2.

Then in the bottom of the frame, Lackner blasted his second home run of the series – a two-run shot to left – for a six-run cushion, and Woullard was able to finish it off and improve to 3-0 on the season. Ironically, his other complete game also came against the Gators.

The Scots turned to Tyler Schuch for the nightcap and the junior lefty pitched well, giving them 5.0-plus innings, and his battery mate, Ostendorf, helped fuel an early 5-0 cushion.

Following a Lackner leadoff single in the second, Ostendorf drove one into the right-field corner for an RBI triple. The latter scored one pitch later on a groundout, and Wooster added another run that frame on the first of two Chandler Dippman doubles.

In the third, Ostendorf singled safely through the left side to bring home Reckart and Wielansky.

Schuch made it through the fifth with a 5-1 lead, then was credited with a leadoff walk to start the sixth before being relieved.

Tyler Wagner clubbed a home run to pull the Gators within 5-3, only to see Hank Schlueter enter shortly thereafter and he was nearly unhittable the rest of the way. The senior southpaw quickly got the Scots out of the sixth, then set down Allegheny 1-2-3 in the seventh and eighth innings and worked around a leadoff single in the ninth for the save.

While Schlueter was in control on the mound, Wooster tacked on two unearned runs in the seventh and three in the eighth on Wielansky's first career homer – a blast well beyond the left-field fence – to seal the outcome.

During the two full games on Tuesday, Gilmore paced the Scots' offense with five hits (5-for-6) and Wielansky was right behind with four (4-for-8, plus four RBI).

Wooster will be right back in action Wednesday night, as it is scheduled to visit long-time regional rival Marietta College (13-8).
