Bera Remains Unbeaten This Spring at No. 1 Singles, Scots Fall to Nationally-Ranked Warhawks

Titas Bera

Senior Titas Bera continued his undefeated spring at No. 1 singles, but The College of Wooster men's tennis team dropped its second straight Saturday match by a 7-2 count as the Fighting Scots were tripped up by 40th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at Aspen Racquet Club in Wooster, Ohio.

Bera pulled out a tight 7-6 (3), 6-4 win over Zane Navratil to put Wooster (4-3) on the board. Later, first-year Joaquin Abos Amo continued his impressive rookie season with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Matt Zurowski at the fourth flight.

Sophomore Nathan Deveruex rallied back after dropping the first set 6-3 to even the match up at one set all after a 6-4 second frame. Devereux went on to drop the 10-game tiebreaker 10-5.

Bera and junior Jesse DeWitt were right there at No. 2 doubles, but the match ultimately shifted the Warhawks' (8-2) way 8-6.

Next, Wooster heads to Orlando, Fla. for six matches, the first of which comes against Dallas Baptist University (6-0) on March 13.
