The College of Wooster men's tennis team wrapped up the second half of its spring break slate with split decisions against North Central (Ill.) College and Colorado College on Sunday after falling to Haverford College on Saturday.
Against Haverford, the Fighting Scots came up short by an 8-1 count. Senior Titas Bera garnered the lone win with a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 1 singles.
In a 6-3 win over North Central (Ill.) College on Sunday morning, Bera and partner Jesse DeWitt pulled out a 9-8 (5) win at No. 1 doubles to give the Scots (7-6) a 2-1 advantage after doubles play. Prior to that, sophomore Nathan Devereux and first-year Joaquin Abos Amo tallied Wooster's other doubles point at the No. 2 slot with an 8-2 win.
In singles, Bera and Abos Amo won in straight sets, as did first-year Saeed Husain, who clinched the team win with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 6. DeWitt pulled out a grueling two-setter, winning 7-6 (3), 7-6 (7) despite suffering from near full-body cramping, according to the coaching staff. Notably, including doubles play, all three of DeWitt's sets went to tiebreakers.

In Wooster's spring break finale against Colorado College, the Scots managed to split singles play while a 2-1 Colorado edge in doubles ultimately made the difference. However, the decisive match came at No. 5 singles, with first-year Jorrit de Rouw breaking back at 4-5 and 5-6 in the second set to force a tiebreaker. From there, de Rouw brought it to 5-6 after an early 2-6 deficit, but came up short as Colorado clinched with a two-set victory.
Other notable results included Bera's, who improved to 12-0 on the year at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win, followed by wins at No. 2 and No. 3 from Abos Amo (3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (13) and Devereux (1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9), respectively.
The Scots lone doubles win came at No. 2, with Bera and first-year Jorrit de Rouw coming out on top, 8-2.
Up next, Wooster travels to Denison University (3-1) on March 28 for a 4:30 p.m. match.
