  • Skully, Gaffney Are Wooster’s NCAC Award Winners

    Senior Kim Skully capped off a solid softball career by picking up a fourth mention on the All-North Coast Athletic Conference team, while sophomore shortstop Caitlin Gaffney also earned the recognition. They each found a spot on the honorable mention squad.

    The Wooster softball team saw its season come to a close as visiting North Coast Athletic Conference foe Wittenberg University used solid pitching and timely hitting to take two contests from the Fighting Scots, 8-0 and 2-1.
  • Allegheny Takes a Pair in Wooster’s Road Finale

    The Wooster softball team hit the road for the final time in 2009, making a trip to Meadville, Pa., where host Allegheny College handed the Fighting Scots a pair of hard-fought North Coast Athletic Conference losses.
  • Pifer's Gem in the Opener Earns Wooster Split with Bethany

    The Wooster softball team handed the ball to senior pitcher Katie Pifer for the opener of the non-conference doubleheader. Pifer responded with a one-run, seven-hit gem, and the Fighting Scots rolled to a 4-1 win over Bethany (W. Va.) before falling to the Bison in the nightcap 13-6.
  • Kelley, Gaines Lead Scots to a Split with OWU

    Juniors Andrea Kelley and Rachel Gaines each smacked two-run singles in game one of a doubleheader, leading theWooster softball team to a split against Ohio Wesleyan. The Fighting Scots (5-29, 3-7 NCAC) won the opener by a single run 4-3, while the Battling Bishops (19-10-1, 4-2 NCAC) erased a 3-1 deficit to take game two 6-3.
  • John Carroll Bats Hot As Wooster Falls Twice, 10-1 and 10-0

    Home-standing John Carroll took advantage of the warmer weather against Wooster, as the Blue Streaks utilized a big day at the plate, along with solid performances in the circle, to sweep both ends of a softball doubleheader with the Fighting Scots, 10-1 and 10-0.
  • Sixth-Inning Rally in Opener Earns Scots Split Against Kenyon
    April 11, 2009
    Trailing 4-2 headed into the bottom of the sixth inning in game one, the Wooster softball team scratched together three runs and held on for a 5-4 win in the opener of its doubleheader with Kenyon College. The Fighting Scots couldn’t complete the sweep, however, falling in the nightcap 6-0.
  • Scots Earn Split with Good Pitching in Nightcap

    The Wooster softball team dropped its opening game against Oberlin 4-3, but thanks to a superb pitching performance by the duo of senior Katie Pifer and junior Andrea Kelley, the Fighting Scots bounced back for a 6-2 win in the nightcap to salvage a split.
  • Scots Tripped Up Twice by the Spartans 7-0, 4-1

    Host Case Western Reserve scored five runs combined in its final two at-bats in the first game, and held the Wooster bats in check in the second, downing the Fighting Scots softball team 7-0 and 4-1 in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at Mather Field.

    The Wooster softball team opened up North Coast Athletic Conference action playing host to Hiram College. When the final out was recorded, the Fighting Scots had dropped both ends of the doubleheader by scores of 3-1 and 8-2.
  • Yellow Jacket Bats Come Alive in 9-0, 12-2 Doubleheader Sweep

    The Baldwin-Wallace pitching staff gave up just two runs and eight hits combined on the afternoon, with both tallies coming in the bottom of the fifth inning for Wooster during game two of a scheduled non-conference doubleheader, as the visiting Yellow Jackets went on to sweep the Wooster softball team by 9-0 and 12-2 scores.
