The College of Wooster women's swimming and diving team won 12 of 16 events en route to a decisive 165-121 victory over archrival Wittenberg University in its first dual-meet action of the 2014-15 season, while the Fighting Scots' men's team dropped a close match-up with the Tigers, 157-142, on Saturday at Timken Natatorium.

Highlighting the women's competition, Wooster swept the top-three spots in both the 50 freestyle and the 200 IM. In the 50 free, first-year Jillian Saccogna hit the wall first (25.29), followed by Morgan Hughes (25.50) and Jamie Hibbs (26.10), and it was Courtney McGovern leading the way in the 200 IM (2:17.64), with Colleen Kill (2:21.88) and Lena Smith (2:24.56) close behind.

McGovern finished first in two other events, sweeping the backstrokes as she posted a time of 1:00.80 in the 100 and 2:15.54 in the 200, while runner-up in those were teammates Holly Hickman (1:03.93) and Sarah Litt (2:18.77), respectively.

Saccogna made it a clean sweep in the sprint freestyles, touching first in the 100 (56.03) just ahead of Hibbs (57.26), and Anna McGlade was a double winner, taking the 200 free (2:02.27) and 500 free (5:27.31).

Rounding out the Scots' event champions were Alexandra Desotelle in the 200 breaststroke (2:34.74), Hughes in the 100 fly (1:01.05), and Litt in the 200 fly (2:14.00).

Standing out for the Wooster men were Brian Maddock and Aaron Brown. Maddock won three events, dominating the two backstroke events as he finished more than five seconds ahead of his nearest competitor in both the 100 (53.10) and 200 (2:04.02). In addition to his specialty, Maddock led the field in the 100 fly (53.77), with teammate Zackary Pool in second-place (55.09).

Brown swept the sprint freestyles, sprinting to 22.50 in the 50 and 49.91 in the 100, and he also anchored the winning 200 medley relay, which included Conner Gelwicks, Frayne Poeting, and James Love (1:41.02).
